STOP TRYING SO HARD!
I'll admit, prior to this year, when it came to birthday parties and celebrations I strived to be that "Pinterest Worthy" Mom...
It always ended in frustration, tears, crabby children and a mess anyways...
This year...I don't get to have my babies on their birthday (they will be with their Dad) and it will be the FIRST time in 4 years that I won't get to wake up with them, make them their favorite breakfast, and sing them "Happy Birthday..."
So Saturday, I wanted to give them a birthday party that made them HAPPY. Surrounded with the people they love most (minus a few from their father's family side that we missed) but friends who have become like family AND grandma, grandpa, their Aunt/Uncle and cousins who have very much made a big impact on their lives.
We are SO beyond grateful to have been surrounded with such love and support...this birthday we steered away from any "themes" or expectations and I brought the twins to Party City let them pick out their birthday decorations, cakes, and food.
And you know what? ALL DAY, they kept saying, "Mommy, I HAPPY!" and smiled, laughed and were so grateful for every gift, hug, EVERYTHING.
Point is, stop STRIVING for perfection, at the end of the day, nobody really cares and you still end up with a mess anyways.
Be BRAVE. Invest into yourself and LOVE wholeheartedly. xoAsh
